KARACHI: World diabetes day on 27th

KARACHI, Oct 6: The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has declared November 14 every year as the World Diabetes Day. However, the World Diabetes Day would be observed on Sunday 27th October, 2002 in view of the holy month of Ramadan falling in November this year, a press release said on Sunday.

This year’s theme is, “Your Eyes and Diabetes; don’t lose sight of the risk”. Organisations and institutions providing care to diabetics will arrange programmes and sessions to disseminate information on diabetes.

In the morning scientific session, Prof A. Samad Shera and Prof Zaman Sheikh will deliver lectures on update on Type-I and Type-II diabetes. A panel of diabetologists will participate.—PPI
