WASHINGTON, Oct 4: US President George W. Bush on Monday night will give his first prime-time televised speech devoted to the threat posed by Iraq and will stress that time is running out for Baghdad to disarm, US officials said on Friday.

The officials said Bush was not expected to issue an ultimatum to Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, however, as he attempts to convince other members of the Security Council to approve a tough new resolution against Iraq.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Bush will deliver the address in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The address will give the Republican president, who charges that Saddam represents an imminent threat, a chance to talk directly to the American people about Iraq.

Congress is debating resolutions authorizing the use of military force against Iraq if needed to deal with his suspected weapons of mass destruction.—Reuters
