Delay in stamp duty gazette flayed

Published October 5, 2002

KARACHI, Oct 4: All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma), Sindh-Balochistan zone, has shown deep concern over delay in publication of official gazette by Sindh government in respect of levy stamp duty on financial documents.

Most banking facilities in Sindh are held up for issue of official gazette by government of Sindh, Aptma pointed out.

Even Revenue Department is not receiving the collection on account of delay in the announcement of revised stamp duty rates.

It is reported that on the initiative of Governor Sindh and provincial finance minister, the revised rates were agreed with representatives of business community and approved by Sindh cabinet in their recent meeting.

It is wondered why the publication is held up to the detriment of development and business activity in Sindh.
