LAHORE, Jan 15: Shaukat Javed and Khawar Shah from Pakistan were elected as president and secretary of the newly-formed SAARC Baseball Federation in the elections held here on Saturday.
A spokesman of the federation said representatives of Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal and Pakistan attended the meeting which was held at the National Hockey Stadium.
The meeting also approved the constitution of the new body.
In his inaugural speech, president Shaukat Javed said the body would work to promote the game in SAARC countries.
He thanked all the visiting members for coming to Pakistan and electing him as president.
Shaukat said the body would hold the first SAARC Baseball Cup tentatively from April 7 to 12 in Pakistan.
Zobia Rabab Malik, also from Pakistan, was elected as chairperson of the SAARC Women Baseball Committee.

Vice-presidents: Eric Perera (Sri Lanka), P.C Bhardwala (India).
Members: Hamidullah (Afghanistan), Inamul Islamal (Bangladesh).
