ISLAMABAD, Oct 1: The leaders of the Peoples’ Party Parliamentarian and the Pakistan Muslim League(N) on Tuesday apprised a 22-member Commonwealth election observers delegation about what they termed massive pre-poll rigging allegedly carried out by the government.

The group headed by former deputy prime minister of Malaysia Tan Sri Dato’ Musa Bin Hitam, which arrived here on Sunday, began monitoring of the election process by holding separate meetings with the political parties.

Secretary-general PPP Mian Raza Rabbani and Chairman PML(N) Raja Zafar-ul-Haq in their meetings with the observers said that the government was blatantly interfering in the elections process.

A two-member delegation of Pakistan Muslim League(Q) consisting of party general-secretary Col Ghulam Sarwar Cheema and Kabir Ali Wasti also met the Commonwealth group.

“Yes they talked about the pre-poll rigging,” said director communications and public affairs division Joel Kibazo. The PML(Q) leaders also gave their view about the election process, he added.

He disclosed that the group would meet chief of Tehrik- i-Insaf Imran Khan on Wednesday.
