KARACHI, Oct 1: Seven ships including two bulk carriers with DAP fertilizer are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity at the wharves showed a modest expansion thanks to steady arrivals. Six ships, MSC Lucy and HSH Ubin to unload and load containers, Iran Meead to offload and load general cargo, Progresso and Filma Satu to load molasses and Indradi to unload palm oil were berthed after the sailing of three.
The ships, which departed included Iwato, Ektinos and Andhika Adhidaya while Filma Satu, HSH Ubin, MSC Lucy, Sorena, Wan Hai-305 and Khairpur are due to sail out on Wednesday.
After a lower berth occupancy rate for the last couple of days, it rose to 43 and 67 per cent at the dry wharves and oil piers respectively thanks to steady arrivals.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves also showed modest rise at 49,311 tons comprising 20,039 tons of export cargo including 4,034 tons of wheat and 29,272 tons of import tonnage.
The following ships are due on Wednesday: APL Costa Rica, Kota Wirawan, Kota Tegap, MSC Rosa-M, with containers, Sacura, Anti Gonib, with fertiliser and Cantauri, with 8,800 tons of sugar for Afghanistan.
KARACHI, Oct 1: Two ships carrying containers and iron ore were berthed at QICT and IOCB during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Tuesday.
Seven ships, Nememcha, Anan, Ulysses-II, Bunga Seamark, CMA Capella, Astro Pegasus and Ermis were at the berths loading/ offloading wheat, containers, edible oil, furnace oil and iron ore.
Cargo handling activity remained brisk as the total rose to 80,766 tons comprising 15,907 tons of export tonnage and 64,859 tons of import cargo, inclusive of cargo carried in 1,244 containers (Teus).
Sailing remained slow as only one ship, Faviola sailed out while Astro Pegasus, Bunga Seamark and Ulysses-II were expected to leave on Tuesday.
Four ships, GTS Sunrise, Inec-B, Voris Ipiros Hellas and Prudhoe all to load wheat were at the outer anchorage.
