LAHORE, Sept 30: Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) in a rejoinder has asked the secretary of his own faction of the Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) Amir Hayat Rokri to appear before its affiliation and constitution committee in first week of November if it wants to get the POA’s affiliation.
Rokri, who had been elected as secretary this year in elections conducted by the Pakistan Sports Board under a Supreme Court directive, has previously refused to appear before the POA and has threatened to resort to legal recourse if POA continues to refuse affiliation.
POA acting secretary Abdul Khaliq Khan who is also the chairman of the affiliation and constitution committee in a rejoinder advised Rokri that his appearance before the committee would be in the best interest of the game, and he would be accorded a full opportunity to explain his position to the committee.
Khaliq claimed that the constitution and affiliation committee was properly constituted body and was chartered with the responsibility to examine all matters referred to it by the POA which relate to the composition and functioning of the national federations and associations in the light of their constitution as well the constitution of the POA.
Khaliq pointed out that the committee, in past, had solved the cases of the Pakistan Amateur Athletic Federation and the Sindh Olympic Association.
