MUZAFFARABAD, Sept 30: A boy wounded his teacher and a student and shot himself dead in a school on Monday, police and witnesses said.
The 16-year old boy, Mohsin, student of 9th grade, was allegedly enraged at the teacher, Sufaida, 22, for complaining against his arrogant behaviour before the principal, which led to his expulsion from the school a week ago, reports suggested.
On Monday, he entered the classroom where Sufaida was teaching class III, took out a pistol and shot her at point-blank range,” National Public School Principal Rehmatullah Rehmani said in the FIR lodged at the city police station.
Later, the boy fired indiscriminately causing injuries in the leg to a 9-year-old student, Maryam Iqbal, and then shot himself in the abdomen, Rehmani said.
The gunshots created panic in the school and the injured were taken to the Combined Military Hospital, where a team of doctors, led by AJK Surgery Director Dr Bashirur Rehman Kant, operated upon them.
Dr Kant said the teacher had sustained three bullets and the boy was critically injured with his liver, spleen and other parts torn and stomach filled with the blood.
“We made all possible efforts to save him but failed because he had lost too much blood,” he said.
