HYDERABAD, Sept 29: Hundreds of Christians took out a rally from the Saint Xavier Church, Tilik Incline, here on Sunday to mourn the deaths of seven Christians who were killed in Karachi on Sept 25.

The rally marched on the Tilik Incline Road, Station Road, Gari Khata, Haider Chowk and the Miran Mohammad Shah Road and terminated at the Hyderabad Press Club.

The mourners had come from Tando Jam, Jamshoro, Kotri and Hyderabad.

Earlier, special prayers were offered for the victims in the Saint Xavier Church and the Saint Thomas Church, Civil Lines.

Speaking at the rally, Father John Murad, Father Ashar, Nazeer Maseeh, Bashir Niaz, Younis Gill and others condemned the massacre of Christians and demanded the arrest of the terrorists.

They said Christians were patriotic and peaceful citizens of Pakistan and they had never harmed anyone, yet they were being targeted by the terrorists.

Meanwhile, a leader of the Communist Party of Pakistan, Comrade Kazi, said the murders were the outcome of policies adopted by the world imperialists and America at whose insistence the extremist religious parties were given training.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said the Idara Amn-o-Insaaf was working for the cause of poor people of the interior of Sindh.

Our Nawabshah correspondent adds: Members of the Christian community took out a protest rally on Sunday against the killings of seven Christians in Karachi.

Led by Dr Munawar Gill, the rally started from the Mariam Road and after marching on main roads, terminated at the Nawabshah Press Club.

The protesters were carrying banners and placards, and were chanting slogans.

They were also joined by some candidates, including Rao Abdul Sami (MQM) and Tariq Masood (PPP).

They demanded of the government to arrest the killers and provide protection to the Christian community.
