FAISALABAD, Sept 27: The District Police Officer of Faisalabad, Zafar Abbas Luk, claimed on Friday that no attempt was made on the life of former MNA Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas and his son-in-law.

In a statement, the DPO said: “investigation has been carried out about the murderous attack on Muhammad Ilyas in a corner meeting and arrest of two attackers.

“The case (No 940, dated 21-09-2002) lodged by Omer son of Ghulam Qadir under section 325, 148 and 149, about the alleged murderous attack on the PPP district president and his son-in-law, Dr Nisar Ahmed, in Chak No 217 RB of Saddar police station was found to be fake and false during interrogation.

“The complainant has deposed in his statement that Kala, Kaka and other accused had resorted to firing with the motive of causing damage to Chaudhry Ilyas Jat and his son-in-law, Dr Nisar Ahmad. Whereas the fact is that no corner meeting was going on at that time.

“The fact was that there was enmity between Kala and Kaka party and Faiz Ahmad party. Actually, a clash took place between them which was given a wrong touch by the district president and the candidate of the PPP and misrepresented as attack on them.

“Whereas there is no enmity or any connection between Faiz Ahmad and Ilyas Jat. No truth was found in alleged story,” he said.
