KARACHI, Sept 27: Federal minister for education, science and technology Prof Atta-ur-Rahman has directed the ministry of education to chalk out a plan to introduce a uniform system of education for all the schools/colleges under the control of the federal government.

He said all educational institutions run by the federal government should be brought at par with Islamabad model schools and colleges.

This will include upgradation of minimum required qualification of teachers, salary structure and other facilities on the pattern of the model schools/colleges.

The minister had shown displeasure over disparity in terms of qualification of teachers, salary structures and other facilities provided to teachers and students in model schools/colleges and other federal government schools/colleges.

Currently, in the model schools, senior level start from class V and minimum qualification of teacher is MA/MSc. for junior schools, no teacher below the qualification of BEd is employed. At senior school level the teachers are supposed to teach only that subject in which they have obtained a Master‘s degree.

“While the complaint of

different systems of education in government and private sector is of equal importance, there is a pressing need for introducing a uniform system and standard of education in all educational institutions run by the government,” Prof Atta said.

The minister has particularly issued instruction that increase of fee should be avoided.

The ministry of education in a presentation to the minister will submit an action plan within the next few days for implementation of the proposal.—PPI
