KARACHI, Sept 27: Seven ships carrying containers and to load molasses are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.
Owing to delayed arrivals, only one ship, D.S. Malatee to offload general cargo was berthed after the sailing of five.
The ships, which departed included Al-Ihssa, Kota Salam, Beluga Superstia, Johar and Botany Triton, while GST Sunrise, D.S. Malatee, Global Progress, Borca, Emirate Star-11 and Ocean Bright are due to depart on Saturday.
Berth occupancy at the dry wharves was 55 per cent, while nil at the oil piers and no tanker called on the port on Thursday.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was modest where a total tonnage of 46,262 tons comprising 16,467 tons of export cargo including 3,190 tons of wheat and 30,795 tons of import tonnage was handled.
The following ships are due on Saturday: Iwato, Ocean Genius, Hyundai Advance, with containers, Nur al-Jubail to offload chemicals, Progresso and Ektinos to load 35,000 tons of molasses and Andhika Adhidaya, with tallow.
KARACHI, Sept 27: Two container ships were allotted berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal (QICT) during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Friday.
Meanwhile, two more ships Nur al-Jubail carrying chemicals and Nememcha to load wheat also arrived at the outer anchorage. The two ships were expected to take berths on Friday.
Eight ships were at the wharves loading/unloading wheat, containers, edible oil, chemicals and iron ore.
A cargo volume of 47,396 tons comprising 34,590 tons of import cargo and 12,806 tons of export tonnage, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,403 containers (Teus), was handled.
