ISLAMABAD, Sept 23: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued warning notices to several candidates on Monday for violating the code of conduct of polls.

The deputy commissioner told this reporter on Monday that supporters of most of the candidates had pasted posters and stickers on streetlights, traffic signals and sign boards, which are the state property.

It has been stated in the notices that these stickers and posters are giving a bad look besides creating inconvenience for the public and visitors.

This practice also shows lack of civic responsibility, the notices said.

The administration has asked the candidates to remove the stickers and posters.

“Under section 14 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), pasting of posters is prohibited in the Capital,” the notices said.

According to the code of conduct, no political party of candidate shall permit his followers to make use of any individual’s land, building, compound, wall, etc without his/her permission for erecting flags, banners, posters and written slogans.”
