KARACHI, Sept 22: Jockey Ghulam Shabbir II and trainer Allah Judrio stole the racing limelight at the Summer Gymkhana Race Meeting, when they finished off the afternoon’s programme with a splendid treble, at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The duo began their winning spree in the sixth event, when the thoroughbred bay filly Love U Lady under the colours of Shah Mardan Shah II Pir Pagaro VI, sped to victory over five furlongs, clocking an impressive time of one minute four seconds, with plenty to spare.

Aziz Love with a burst of speed finished second, three and half lengths behind the winner, with Guarantee snatching the third spot from Sulman Love.

Then partnering Syed Sadruddin Shah’s three-year-old dark filly Hoor-e-Mehran, Ghulam Shabbir and Allah Judrio had their second success, when the filly completed a hat trick of wins in the next race, leaving her nearest rival Ray Of Light 5 1/4 lengths behind. Donatello taking the early lead finished third, with Lucky One completing the frame.

Not satisfied with these triumphs, Ghulam Shabbir and Allah Judrio stole the honours once again in the concluding event, when Syed Sadruddin Shah’s prized bay colt Raqeeb-e-Azam, also completing her hat trick of wins, lowered the colours of the chestnut colt Lippizzaner, winning the six furlong sprint by a handsome margin of 10 1/2 lengths without raising much of a sweat, in a smart time of one minute 16 1/5 seconds.

The first race of the afternoon was won by rank outsider Money Make Music with veteran rider Azeem in the saddle, beating Millennium Era by two lengths, after the raging favourite Abr-e-Noor was pulled hook, line and sinker by another veteran rider Nadir Abdullah.

In the next race, Speed Fire piloted by riding boy M. Khursheed took a flying start and led the field into the home stretch. But a furlong from home the bay horse stumbled and fell, which enabled the bay gelding Striker, chasing the front runner to win the race.

Speed Fire, breaking a fetlock was later destroyed. However the rider got off with minor bruises.

The third race of the afternoon was won by the roan colt High Speed, having the services of Lahore rider M. Kashif in the saddle. Speeding to victory over five furlongs, High Speed held off a belated challenge by Sone Pari.

Classic Beauty owned by Abdul Hafeez and trained by Taj Mohammad, was an impressive winner in the following race with Shafi Mohammad aboard. The bay mare never gave the connections any anxious moments, beating Charismatic Eyes by three and half lengths.

Wonder Thunder smartly ridden by Muzaffar Hussain, was another popular winner in the fifth event, beating Dushtiyani by a close margin of one length. Winning Streak was third with Little Sunny, leading the field for most part of the race completing the frame.

The next race meeting gets under way on Sunday, Sept. 29.
