PPP to oust rulers, says Qasim Zia

Published September 23, 2002

LAHORE, Sept 22: Punjab PPP chief and a candidate from PP-155 Qasim Zia says the masses will get rid of the rulers who have left the people at the mercy of price hike and unemployment on Oct 10.

Speaking at an election meeting in Amar Sadhu, he said his rival was relaying on the government support while he was looking towards the masses for their support.

He said his party was struggling against those Leaguers who had become turncoats and had taken shelter under the umbrella of the government after plundering public wealth.

Munir Ahmad Khan, a PPP nominee for PP-154, spoke at five corner meetings in union councils 132, 133 and 146. He said his party would sweep the elections despite pre-poll rigging by the government.

He predicted the defeat of the “lota” League on Oct 10, saying the voters were welcoming PML-QA candidates with lotas in their hands. —Staff Reporter
