Rulers making country a US colony: MMA

Published September 22, 2002

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Sept 21: The leaders of Muttahida Majlis-i- Amal at an election rally on Friday said that they would not allow the rulers to make the country a secular state.

They asserted that the present rulers were out to tarnish the country’s Islamic image and make it a US colony but the MMA would not let it happen.

Those who spoke at the rally included Maulana Fazlur Rehman of JUI and Qazi Hussain Ahmed of JI, whereas Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani of JUP and Maulana Samiul Haq of JUI-S could not attend owing to their engagements elsewhere.

Qazi Hussain Ahmed alleged that the provincial government was determined to the give power reins to the “king’s party”, but the MMA would thwart the conspiracies against the people.

Referring to US President Bush’s attitude towards the Islamic world, Mr Qazi said that America was making all out efforts to brand Muslim countries as terrorists, whereas she without producing any proof against Osama’s involvement in the 9\11 attacks killed thousands of innocent people in Afghanistan.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman alleged that the government had finalized a pre-poll rigging plan and a cell was working in the Governor’s House at Peshawar to bring the king’s party into power.

Terming America as the greatest terrorist country, the Maulana said that the Pakistan rulers were siding with the US for their specific interests, but the masses would stamp them out on the polling day.
