LAHORE, Sept 21: Federal Information Minister Nisar A. Memon has said the government is supporting every person who wants to do something positive for the country.
Talking to reporters after the convocation of the first year diploma graduates organized by The City — Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) at a local hotel on Saturday, he said the government had no favourite in the elections. He said the election process was on and all political parties had gone to people to present their manifestos.
Answering a question about a low-key political activity in the country, he said the political parties had actually been campaigning for the last three years. He said all the political parties were also being given air time on PTV.
He said the elections would not be postponed whatever the cost. He said the PML-N and the PPP had also given their consent to contest the elections.
Dispelling speculations about the establishment of an interim government, he said the majority party would form the government.
About the Punjab governor’s political campaign in the province, he said the governor was not doing any political campaign but informing people about the achievements of the present government.
Mr Memon said those politicians were creating a confusion who had plundered the country. He said that the previous governments had targeted their opponents. Now, he said, this government brought in stability in the country.
PRESIDENT: Answering a question, Mr Memon said Gen Pervez Musharraf would relinquish the office of chief executive but retain the offices of president for five years and chief of the army staff till any decision.
“Mr Musharraf has said that he will relinquish the office of the COAS when new chief will be nominated,” he said.
