PESHAWAR, Sept 21: A private medical institute has taken a lead in introducing Carotid Artery Stenting (CAS) technique in the NWFP when it performed the procedure on a patient here on Sept 18.

According to a press release, the Rehman Medical Institute has recently introduced the technique.

The patient, Ghulam Sakhi, 61, who is an Afghan national, was the first person in the MWFP and 10th in the country to receive treatment under this method.

After a day’s stay at the institute, Mr Sakhi was discharged allowed to resume his normal routine.

The Carotid Artery Stenting technique is an innovative and cutting-edge technology, which has gained recognition the world over.

This procedure is performed through a needle hole puncture in the artery of the leg leading to the carotid artery.
