HYDERABAD, Sept 19: Activists of the Lower Staff Association, Sindh Education Department, staged a demonstration outside the press club on Thursday to protest against the alleged excesses of the EDO (education), Sukkur, Rafia Naz Pathan, against the lower staff of Sukkur.
They raised slogans against the EDO and demanded her immediate removal.
Addressing the rally, the central president of the association, Darya Khan Jamali, and its district president, Wazir Ahmed Keerio, accused Ms Rafia of victimizing the lower staff of the education department of Sukkur.
They claimed that she had sealed the office of the association and transferred the poor employees to far-flung areas.
They alleged that the EDO had misappropriated more than Rs400,000 out of the funds allocated for the purchase of uniforms of the employees.
They claimed that an inquiry had also been instituted against her but certain influential people had blocked the inquiry.
They warned that if the EDO was not transferred, the lower staff would organize a series of protest demonstrations throughout interior Sindh.
HOUSE JOB DOCTORS: The house job doctors of the BDS Department, Liaquat Medical University Hospital, staged a rally from the hospital upto the press club on Thursday in protest against the low wages of the doctors in Sindh.
Addressing the rally, Dr Imran Samejo, Abdul Jabbar Lakhair, and Dr Ehsan Soomro claimed that the house job doctors in the remaining three provinces were being paid an allowance of Rs6,210 per month but the house job doctors of Sindh were being paid only Rs3,876.
They said that this was a clear discrimination against the house job doctors of Sindh who were being meted out stepmotherly treatment.
They appealed to President Pervez Musharraf, the Sindh governor, the Sindh minister, and the secretary, health, to treat the house job doctors of Sindh at par with the doctors of other provinces.
RESIGNS: The general secretary, Sindh Democratic Alliance (SDA), Qasimabad Taluka, Faqir Ashfaq Ali Khaskheli, who is also the chairman of the All Pakistan Khaskheli Ittehad, on Thursday resigned from the SDA and joined the Qasimabad Shehri Ittehad along with hundreds of supporters.
He made this announcement while addressing a news conference at the local press club in the presence of Dr Inayat Shah, the president of the Qasimabad Shehri Ittehad and a provincial assembly candidate from PS-47, Syed Ali Moazzam Shah, of Tando Jehania.
Faqir Ashfaq Ali Khaskheli cautioned the Sindhi people not to fall into the trap of self-seekers and opportunists and vote for only those candidates who were sincere with the cause of Sindh.
