KOHAT, Sept 18: Police averted a clash between the activists of Pakistan Muslim League, belonging to Nawaz and Quaid-i-Azam groups, and Awami National Party (ANP) on Wednesday, over fixing of party flags.

The trouble started when some ANP activists, while decorating the main bazaar on Tuesday night, perched their flags on the shops of PML supporters.

In the morning, when the PML supporters started removing the banners and flags from their shops, the ANP activists got infuriated and exchanged harsh words with the shopkeepers.

Soon, a large number of workers of the three parties gathered at the spot, but Kohat SSP Abid Ali Khan intervened in the row and averted a clash.

Later, local leaders of the PML-N and ANP reached a consensus with the help of the SSP that flags, posters and banners of the political parties should be fixed in bazaars only in the day time. The PML-QA leaders were not present on occasion.
