SUKKUR, Sept 18: The police used tear gas and baton-charged the students of the Atta Hussain Degree College, Rohri, on Wednesday to end a blockade on the National Highway, injuring several students.
The students had been demanding transport facility, since the shifting of the collage to its new location at the Rohri by-pass.
This morning the situation aggravated when a student fell sick and his fellow students wanted to shift him to his house, but no bus was stopped to pick them. The students started pelting stones on the buses and blocked the highway for several hours, damaging several private buses.
The police fired tear gas shells, baton-charged the students and opened the road for the traffic. The police picked up some 35 students who were released later. Some students received severe injuries due to the baton-charge and tear gas shelling.
