KARACHI, Sept 16: A man committed suicide by jumping from Native Jetty bridge into the sea on Monday.
Imran Arshad, aged 40, jumped down from Native Jetty bridge and drowned in the sea.
Edhi volunteers recovered the body from the sea. It was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
Police could not ascertain the cause of the suicide immediately.
CARJACKING: Twenty-one vehicles — eight cars and 13 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Monday, police said.
Three cars were hijacked. Five others were stolen.
Four motorcycles were hijacked. Nine others were stolen in the city, police sources revealed.
WOUNDED: An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was shot and wounded in Lyari on early Monday morning.
Police said that unidentified men opened fire on Farooq Sarbazi when he was standing near his house in Chakiwara. He was rushed to Civil Hospital where he was operated upon.
A statement issued by the Muttahida stated that Sarbazi received a bullet in his abdomen which badly damaged one of his kidneys.
Doctors had to remove the damaged kidney to save his life, the statement added.
DIE OF BURNS: Two persons who had suffered burns died in hospitals on Monday.
Sarkara, aged 55, wife of Shabbir, was brought to Civil Hospital on Sept 11 after she suffered burns in her house in Hub area.
She was admitted to the burns ward of Civil Hospital where she died.
Abdul Karim, aged 25, who had suffered burns in Shareefabad on Sept 6, died in the burns ward of Civil Hospi-tal.
