HYDERABAD, Sept 15: The Nazim, union council-15, Hyderabad city, Mohammad Yousuf Siddiqui, has condemned the anti-people policies of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) saying that instead of providing facilities to the people, it was insulting and humiliating the consumers.

In a statement issued on Saturday, he said that the company regularly issued detection bills, resorted to unannounced loadshedding, and blackmailed the poor consumers to cover up the line losses.

Mr Siddiqui, who is also a member of the district government, regretted that there was no one to question the arbitrary and unilateral decisions of the company.

He said that the power tariff had been increased to such an extent that the poor people were unable to pay their power bills.

He said that the company was trying to fail the government’s constructive policies.

He said that although fast-running crystal meters had been installed on poles yet the consumers were being issued detection bills.

He said the customer service centres, which provided no relief to the people, had been set up to hoodwink the consumers.

Mr Siddiqui appealed to President Pervez Musharraf to take notice of the unrest among the power consumers and direct Hesco to change its attitude.
