KARACHI, Sept 15: A number of surveillance cameras have been installed in and around the venue of Expo Centre, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, and all along the route from the airport to the venue and to Sheraton Hotel where the inaugural seminar to be held on Monday in connection with the Ideas 2002 exhibition.

Sources said the movement of traffic as well as people would be monitored through the surveillance cameras.

DIG Traffic Karachi Saud Ahmed told Dawn that the surveillance cameras would monitor the traffic movement and help keep an eye on unscrupulous elements. However, he declined to give the exact number of the cameras installed for security reasons.

The sources said 30 surveillance cameras had been installed in and around Expo Centre while many had been fixed along the main thoroughfare on Sharea Faisal and other roads.
