ISLAMABAD, Sept 14: Federal communications minister Lt-Gen Javed Ashraf Qazi (retired) has said Post Mall’s inauguration heralds a new era of integrated IT postal services in Pakistan to meet the demands of the modern-day users of the post.

Inaugurating the newly-established First Paperless Post Mall at F-7 Markaz on Saturday, he said an effective planning had been made for providing world-class postal facilities to the people.

He said establishment of the Post Mall was an important advancement of Pakistan Post towards 21st century and that the most modern facilities had been made available there.

The minister said the whole postal system was being computerized and efforts were being made to take maximum benefit from the modern techniques so that manpower could be reduced.

He said the international-level facilities of postal banking, postal insurance and money order had been provided. He said Post Mall would also be established in all the provincial capitals.

He said the director-general of Pakistan Post, Maj-Gen Agha Masood Hassan (retired), and his energetic team of postal officers deserved appreciation for showing marvellous results in making the Post Office Department IT based in a short span of time.

Mr Qazi urged the Post Mall staff to work with dedication and missionary zeal to serve the masses. He also visited the counters of postal services, savings bank, Western Union and the business centre, and appreciated the services provided to the people.
