ISLAMABAD, Sept 10: The Election Commission (EC) clarified on Tuesday that both new and old National Identity Cards will be valid for identification at the time of polling in the Oct 10 general elections.
EC Secretary Hasan Mohammad told APP that the National Database and Registration Authority had conveyed to the EC that they would be able to issue more than 95 per cent computerized ID cards before Oct 5.
The secretary, however, recalled that the EC had already decided that if someone could not get the new computerized ID card before the polling day, his old card would be valid for identification at the day of polling.—APP
