KARACHI, Sept 10: A petitioner has moved the Sindh High Court praying for the presidential form of government and a new constitution based on that system.

Aslam Bin Ibrahim, advocate, chairman of the Muslim Commonwealth Movement, has filed the petition.

It is his contention that the adoption of British-oriented parliamentary democracy has been the greatest misfortune of Pakistan. It has also been the mainspring of corruption, parliamentary anarchy, blackmailing and horse trading leading to the fall of parliamentary governments in quick succession, which compelled the army to take over from time to time and also to suspend the citizens’ fundamental rights from time to time.
