MULTAN, Sept 8: A teenage girl died of acid burns at Nishtar Hospital on Sunday.
The doctor in charge of hospital’s Burn Unit, Naheed Chaudhry, said Rabia Siddiqi had been brought to the hospital over one and a half months ago after she was injured when a man allegedly threw acid on her as well as on her parents and four-year-old baby Khaula Sabeen in New Multan. The incident happened on July 24. The baby died on Aug 7.
Dr Naheed said Ms Rabia’s mother, Tahira Aziz, had been discharged while her father was in stable condition at the Burn Unit.
Meanwhile, a woman named Asma gave birth to a child on Saturday evening, a month after she was brought to the Nishtar with acid burns. A former fiance of Ms Asma, Allah Ditta, and three others allegedly threw acid on her and her husband Akhtar in Shujabad. Dr Naheed hoped that Asma would survive.
