ISLAMABAD, Sept 6: The Election Commission has asked the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians to resubmit its statement of accounts by Sept 12, as its earlier statement was not in conformity with the Political Parties Order, 2002.
The PPP is the only major political party whose statement of accounts was not duly audited by a Chartered Accountant, a requirement under the PPO.
The military government has empowered the EC to turn down the request for registration of those political parties which fail to fulfil the PPO requirements.
All the remaining major political parties, like PML (N), PML (QA), Muttahida Qaumi Movement, and Awami National Party, have submitted the statement of their accounts, duly audited by a Chartered Accountant.
The parties whose statements of accounts were found in keeping with the provisions of PPO are: Awami National Party, Awami Qiadat Party, Balochistan National Democratic Party, Balochistan National Movement, Balochistan National Party, Jamhoori Wattan Party, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (Nifaz-e-Shariat), Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith (Lakhwi Group), Mohajir Qaumi Movement Pakistan, Mohib-i-Wattan Nowjawan Inqilabion Ki Anjuman (MNAKA), Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Awami Party, Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Pakistan Democratic Party, Pakistan Freedom Party, Pakistan Humwattan Party, PML(F), PML(J), PML (Jinnah), PML(N), PML(QA), PML(Qayum Group), Pakistan Pakhtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party, PPP(Sherpao), Pakistan Seraiki Party, Pakistan Shia Political Party, Pakistan Social Democratic Party, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Tameer-i-Pakistan Party, Tehreek Hussainia Pakistan, Tehreek-i-Masawaat, Jamiat Ulama-i-Islam (F), JUI(S), Jamaat-i-Islami, Markazi Jamiat Ahl-i- Hadith (Sajid Mir), Sindh National Front, Balochistan National Movement, Millat Party, and National People’s Party.
The parties which submitted unaudited statement of accounts, are: PPP Parliamentarians, Balochistan National Congress, Hazara Qaumi Mahaz, Ittehad Milli Hazara, Jamaat Ahle Hadith Pakistan, Labour Party Pakistan, Markazi Jamaat Ahle Hadith, Mohajir Ittehad Tehrik, Mohajir Kashmiri Movement, National People’s Party Workers Group, Nizam-i-Mustafa Party, Pak Wattan Party, Pak Muslim Alliance, Pakistan Awami Tehreek-i-Inqilab, Pakistan Brohi Party, Pakistan Gharib Party, Pakistan Ittehad Tehreek, PML(Qasim), Pakistan Progressive Party (Suraya Farman Group), Punjab National Front, Punjab National Party, Qaumi Inqilab Party, Tehrik Wafaq Pakistan and Tehreek-i-Istaqlal.
The political parties, mostly newly formed, which did not submit statement of accounts by the due date are: Azmat-i-Islam Movement, Istiqlal Party, Jamote Qaumi Movement, Kakar Jamhoori Party Pakistan, National Workers Party, Pakhtoonkhaw Qaumi Party, Pakistan Awami Quwat Party, Pakistan Jumhoori Aman Party, Pakistan Maqsad Himayat Tehreek, Pakistan Mazdoor Kissan Party, Pakistan Muslim League (Z), Pakistan People’s Party (Shaheed Bhutto), Pakistan Progressive Party, Pakistan Worker Party, Qaumi Jamhoori Party, Qaumi Tahaffaz Party, Saraiki Sooba Movement Pakistan, Shan-i-Pakistan Party, Sindh Urban Rural Alliance, Sunni Tehreek, Tehreek Jamhoriat Pakistan, Jamiat Ulama-i- Pakistan (N), Sindh Democratic Alliance, and National Awami Party.
