KARACHI, Nov 9: The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan has revised its policy regarding training, monitoring and assessment of various examinations for postgraduate programmes.
In a recent meeting, the college council decided to hold theory examinations of fellowships’ multiple choice questions. From March 2002 and onwards, all the theory examinations of fellowships would be based on one-best type MCQs, said official sources.
It was further said that the period of validity to pass the fellowship examination (FCPS) has been revised and all candidates, who had passed FCPS Part-I in 1998 or earlier, must now get registered with the Research, Training and Monitoring Cell of the college by March 30, 2002. They are required to appear, at least once, in the FCPS-II examinations of the relevant disciplines necessarily upon completion of the required duration of training.
Candidates who passed FCPS Part-I in 1999 must get registered with the RTMC by March 30, 2003, and must appear, at least once, in the FCPS-II examination of the relevant discipline upon completion of the required duration of training, added the source.
The council also made changes in the duration of fellowships’ training in line with international trends and requirements. The changes would be effective for all those candidates who passed FCPS Part-I in 2001, or got registered for training in 2001, irrespective of the date of qualifying for the FCPS Part-I examination.
