LAHORE, Sept 2: The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf has alleged that the election commission has become a party by “unreasonably” rejecting nomination papers of PTI chairman Imran Khan for a Mianwali National Assembly constituency (NA-71).
Party’s provincial president Mian Sajid Pervez told Dawn on Monday that the action had been taken because Mr Khan could not produce his original educational documents. He said the returning officer had been told that Mr Khan was in London to bring the documents from the Oxford University.
He feared that his leader’s nomination papers for a Lahore constituency (NA-122) would also be rejected by the election tribunal formed by the election commission.
Earlier, the candidature of the PTI chief had been rejected in Ahmadpur East, Bahawalpur, and the party had submitted an appeal against the decision.
