KARACHI, Sept 2: Sindh additional secretary social welfare and women development department Mohammad Nawab Ahmed has said women constituted 50 per cent of the population as such the present government has reserved 33 per cent quota for their development and welfare.

He was speaking as chief guest at the concluding session of a three-day training programme for development of local councillors of the city under the political participants project held at the social welfare training institute, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Monday night.

The training programme was organized by the social welfare and women development department in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme.

He stressed the women councillors to develop their confidence by participating in such programmes which are for their capacity-building and which will enable them to coordinate with the government functionaries.
