LAHORE, Aug 31: A competitive card of five events has been chalked out for the Lahore Gymkhana races to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday.

In view of the Lahore Winter Meetings starting next Sunday, the distance of races has been increased by 100 metres. Hence all races will be contested over the sprinting distance of 1000 metres instead of 900 metres. The first race will be held at 3.00 pm.

The Chichawatni Plate, a class IV and V handicap race, which feature’s the card, has only six runners. In this event three contestants seems to be on chance. They are: bay filly Gambling Girl, bay horse Half Love and another bay filly Royal Soul.

Inspite of carrying a top weight of ten stones four pounds Gambling Girl by virtue of his pedigree and form has an edge over others. The main challenge to her should come from Royal Soul, who is lowly placed in the handicap at eight stones and Half Love. Both Gambling Girl and Royal Soul were not allowed to perform on merit by their respective riders on Sunday Last. Both were fined Rs 1000 each and warned severely.

The fourth and supporting event, the Khanewal Plate, a class VII division I and II combined has a dozen runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals. Of them four look to be on chance. They are: Imagine If, Lucky Credit Queen, Haseen Love and Golden Wings. They should decide about the winner.

Royal Prosper, Silk Route and Asif Love are the pick of the eight contestants in the third race. The winner should be from them.

The opener and the second race has thirteen runners each barring last-minute withdrawals. Both events are packed with some good sprinters and race-goers should expect close contests in them.
