KARACHI, Aug 31: A card of seven races has been drawn for the 23rd Day of the Karachi Summer races which will be held Sunday at the local turf.

The first race will begin at 1.30pm.

The day’s card looks favourable for the followers of the form as some of the most consistent runners are figuring in at least four races out of seven. The punters should reap rich harvest. The first three races look intriguing but the last four should provide some fun to the patrons who should be treated to some good competition with form and class having last laugh.

The stewards, who have the right to change the riders at the last minute should make it a point that the club riders do not unnecessarily show cruelty to the animals. Only on last Sunday, Sone Pari was unnecessarily whipped at the starting gate by the club rider and the filly who should not have run out of one, two and three just managed to complete the frame as she just could not put up her natural run after being whipped before coming into starting order.

If she is allowed to run under the stable jockey or her regular partner, there is no reason why she should not win the second race from Sunday Silence and Sher Khan who should offer her the real challenge.

In the first race, Lawrence of Arabia, Whitney Houston, Royal Beauty and Lucky Love are the pick. Royal Beauty on her last run should have edge over Lawrence of Arabia.

The third race is perhaps the most intriguing of the day’s card where Fizza, Sajan Black, Black Door Man and Kosby Kid can do the trick if called upon by their connections. On present form I would, however, like Fizza to have edge over lowly placed Kosby Kid. Sajan Black has no recent form to suggest any forward run.

Lucky One should start as first favourite in the fourth race on her last two runs where she was beaten by superior animals like Hiawatha and Welcome Shahtab. With those runs in mind she should oblige her connections Sunday.

In the fifth race, Hiawatha should simply make it two in a row on his last week’s smashing win. Royal Falcon, Brave Shah, Winning Queue, Kieve, and Neelam Taab should measure their strength for less remunerative berths.

Lippizzaner on his last week’s run looks a rcing certainty and should humble the present lot hands down. Jeetain Gay Hum and Deniro should fight for lower berths where I would like the former to have edge over Deniro.

The concluding event of the day should provide a thriller as three top form horses in Navahoo Princess, Royal Fantasy and Lucky Three should provide a good fight. I would however, put my shirt on Royal Fantasy who is a different class.
