Relief package for Thar demanded

MITHI, Aug 31: The members of the Taluka council, Mithi, on Friday demanded the arrest of the culprits involved in the rape of Ms Padu Bai, and also asked for a relief package for the people of drought-hit district.

Moving a motion in the Taluka council session here on Thursday, a councillor, Arjun Kumar, said in spite of lodging an FIR, almost a month ago, the police had so far failed to arrest the culprits.

Moving an other motion, some members pointed out that the lack of rains had created a drought-like-condition in the district and several poor families were facing starvation.

About 40 per cent of the Tharis had already migrated to the barrage areas in search of sustenance, which are already facing a drought-like- situation.

Through a resolution the members demanded of the government to chalk out a comprehensive plan to combat the drought besides announcing a special relief package for the drought-hit district.

PRESS CONFERENCE: The residents of a village, Hayat Halepoto, Chhachhro, Taluka, have demanded of the Education Department to conduct an inquiry against the head master of the Hayat Halepoto High School, who had allegedly misappropriated the school funds.

Speaking at a press conference here on Friday, Mohammad Misri, Budho, Mohammad Siddique, Nawaz Ali, and some other residents of the village, alleged that the present head master of the school seldom attends the school and had embezzled the school funds and fees.

They demanded of the authorities to conduct an inquiry and take action against the head master.
