DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 31: Additional Sessions Judge Subhan Sher on Saturday sent three policemen accused in a Zina case to judicial lock-up after rejecting their pre-arrest bail applications.
The three policemen of the Panyala police station had repeatedly raped a woman in Saidabad village of Panyala during the arrest of her husband by the police on June 30.
The matter was brought to the notice of the Dera Ismail Khan SSP when Ahmad Nawaz Marwat, the husband of the woman, was released from police lock-up.
Hayatullah, police driver, and constables Anjar Gul and Amanullah with the help of their accomplices had forcibly entered the house of Ahmad Nawaz and repeatedly raped his wife during his arrest, the man told the SSP after his release.
The DSP Paharpur, who conducted the inquiry in the case, submitted his report to the SSP and an FIR under Zina Ordinance (Enforcement of Hudood) 1979, was registered against the accused.
Meanwhile, their colleagues in the Panyala police station provided them sufficient time and they availed pre-arrest bails from Civil Judge Sofia Awan.
When the accused policemen appeared for confirmation of their pre-arrest bails on Saturday, the additional sessions judge rejected their plea as they were directly nominated in the FIR and they had failed prove that there was any ulterior motive in their implication.
After the announcement of the judgment, the accused were sent to judicial lock-up in the district prison.
