KARACHI, Aug 31: Representatives of law enforcement agencies are visiting national and provincial assemblies’ candidates at their residences and are asking them various questions about their families and friends.
According to sources in the Pakistan People’s Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, such representatives visited their candidates on Saturday and gave them a bio-data form issued by the special branch of police.
Political parties have resented this “unusual” act on part of the government.
“What business special branch and other law enforcing agencies have to ask such questions. All such information is provided in the nomination form and its appendage,” said Makhdoom Amin Fahim, chief of the People’s Party Parliamentarians, at a news conference on Saturday.
He demanded of the chief election commissioner to take serious notice of “such unnecessary indulgence by the agencies.”
Bio-data forms were delivered at the residences of a PPP and MQM candidates by the official in charge of the Clifton Town Special Branch.
