KARACHI, Aug 31: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) has withdrawn its FIR on the issue of the printing press, one of the properties in dispute among the partners of Barex Ltd.
APNS President Hameed Haroon, in a press release, has stated that the dispute has come to an end through the intervention of leading personalities of the newspaper industry.
Mr Haroon, on behalf of the office-bearers and members of the executive committee, has appreciated the cooperation extended to the APNS by Interior Minister Moinuddin Haider and the chief editor of Nawa-i-Waqt, Majeed Nizami, in this matter.
The press release says that after the APNS had lodged the FIR on Aug 24, Sardar Khan Niazi approached the APNS and explained the incident on the basis of which, the FIR was registered.
The APNS president, after consulting with the chief editor of Nawa-i-Waqt, decided to place the printing press in the custody of Mr Nizami at Lahore till the dispute is settled. Both the parties to the dispute i.e., Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami and Sardar Khan Niazi, agreed to the arrangements.—APP
