LONDON, Aug 31: The investigators questioning a man arrested on suspicion of hijacking the London-bound plane say they are sure that he was planning to crash the plane into a US Embassy in Europe.

“We know for sure that the plan was to crash the plane into a US Embassy in Europe,” a military intelligence source was quoted as saying.

The search is on for four of the suspected hijacker’s accomplices, including an explosives expert. The suspect, Karem Chatty, has been shifted to a very high security jail and he is said to be formally charged in Sweden on Monday.

The failed hijack attempt has prompted renewed security alert on all the European airports. Karim Chatty’s parents are from Tunisia while he was born in Sweden.

He was arrested on Thursday as he tried to board a Ryanair flight at an airport north of Stockholm, when X-machines there detected a loaded gun in his hand luggage.
