KARACHI: Cop dies in accident

KARACHI, Aug 27: A police constable died in a road accident in Gulbahar on Tuesday.

Police said Ghulam Abbas, aged 30, a police constable posted at SITE police station, was run over by a speeding truck while walking across the main road in Golimar. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died.

Police claimed to have arrested the truck driver, Gul Hasan, and impounded the truck.

An unidentified man was run over by a train in Bin Qasim area.

Police said that the unidentified, who was in his mid-30s, died when he came under the wheels of a train. Police could not determine whether it was suicide or accident.

FALLS TO DEATH: A young labourer died when he fell from the fourth floor of an under-construction building in Ranchhor Lines on Tuesday.

Police said Vilayat, aged 40, was working on the fourth floor of an under- construction building near Badami Masjid in Ranchhor Lines. He was rushed to Civil Hospital where he died. He suffered serious head injuries.

BURNS: A young girl suffered serious burns in her house in Surjani Town on Tuesday.

Beenish, aged 20, suffered serious burns when she tried to light a stove in the kitchen.
