KARACHI, Aug 26: A jobless young man committed suicide in Rizvia Society on Monday.

Police said that Yawar Husain, aged 25, consumed poison in his house in Rizvia Society after locking himself up in his room. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died.

Quoting family sources, police said that the young man had been jobless for the past several months and was suffering from depression.

‘ENCOUNTER’: An unidentified suspect was shot dead in Mochko on late Sunday night, in what police claimed an encounter with four suspects.

Police said that two policemen were on routine patrolling in an area between Saidullah and Dawood villages when they noticed four suspects moving about in a suspicious manner.

Police asked them to stop, but they opened fire at police and tried to run away. Police returned the fire seriously injuring one of the suspects. His other accomplices escaped.

The injured was rushed to a nearby private hospital from where he was referred to Civil Hospital. But he died on way to the hospital.

Police claimed to have recovered one pistol and two loaded magazines from the possession of the dead suspect.

CARJACKING: Thirteen vehicles — four cars and nine motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Monday, police said.

Two cars were hijacked. Two others were stolen.

Five motorcycles were hijacked. Four others were stolen.

SHOT DEAD: Unidentified motorcyclists shot dead a veterinary doctor in Korangi Industrial Area on Monday.

Police said that Dr Mohammed Atiqur Rahman, aged 50, veterinary doctor, was returning from a factory that he used to visit twice a week, where he worked as production manager.

Police said that he was accompanied by two employees of the factory, including an accountant, Jalaluddin, who asked for a lift to a nearby bank.

When they reached near Singer Chowrangi, two motorcyclists intercepted their vehicle and snatched Rs500,000 from the accountant. They were travelling on a factory’s vehicle.

However, a senior police officer said that the two motorcyclists opened fire on the doctor without any apparent reason, as there was no resistance on the part of the occupants of the vehicle.

Police said that Dr Rahman received a single bullet in his chest and died before he could be taken to hospital.

The body was sent to the JPMC for post-mortem.

KILLED: An unidentified young man was found murdered in Surjani Town on Monday.

Police said that the unidentified man, who was in his mid-30s, was found murdered in PTV Society, Ahsanabad, Gulshan-i-Maymar, Surjani Town.

Police sent the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

Sources at the hospital said that the dead man was tortured and stabbed to death.

After autopsy the body has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.

A young man was stabbed to death in Sharafi goth on Monday.

Edhi sources said that the victim, Mohammed Aslam, aged 22, was standing at a bus stand when he had a brawl with unknown men. During the brawl, they stabbed him and escaped. Aslam was rushed to the JPMC where he died.
