KARACHI, Aug 25: The Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (SESSI), during the calendar year of 2001-02, realized an amount of Rs478.606 million — in the head of social security — which is Rs25.305 million ahead of the set target, which has never been accomplished hitherto.

This was stated by the commissioner of the institution, Amir Ali Burq to the Sindh Minister for Industries and Labour, Dewan Yousuf Farooqui during the governing body’s meeting, which was presided over by him.

During the course of the meeting, the annual report of the previous year was discussed and the target for the next year viz 2002-03 was reviewed, and a target of Rs608.513 million was set.

Amir Ali told the minister that efforts were on for the provision of the best possible health facilities at hospitals of the institution similar to the ones offered at private health centres.

Some 250 patients daily visit SESSI hospitals to seek treatment, while the number of outdoor patients amount to more than 4000. Similarly, 15 major and minor operations, including delivery cases were carried out, which cost the institution Rs480 million annually, and Rs1.6 million daily.

Dewan Yousuf Farooqui stressed the need for enhancing the performance of the institution further, with the obvious objective to facilitate labourers and workers and mitigate their problems.—PPI
