ISLAMABAD, Aug 24: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan met Jamaat-i-Islami chief and vice-president of MMA Qazi Hussain at the latter’s residence on Friday evening and agreed on pre- poll and post-elections cooperation between their two parties.

In their 45-minutes meeting, both the JI and PTI leaders, expressed their concern over what they termed government’s pre-poll rigging actions which are negatively effecting its claims of fairness and transparency of elections.

According to Akbar S. Babar, secretary information of PTI, who accompanied Imran Khan during the meeting, both leaders were unanimous in demanding of the government to take care that none of the contesting parties/alliance is discriminated against.

They warned of a fierce reprisal by the masses if Musharraf regime involved itself in actions which undermine the election campaign.

Both leaders agreed to continue cooperation in future as well, Babar further said.

When asked about the possibility of seat-to-seat adjustment between the two parties, Babar said: “It was a continuing process as the MMA has to make its internal adjustments first and then we will consider the prospects of such a cooperation wherever possible”.

Meanwhile, Akbar S. Babar, who is playing the role of a spokesman and front-line negotiator of Imran Khan, told Dawn that he may not contest national assembly polls and may be a candidate for the senate.

He said that the process of filing of nomination papers and finalizing of lists was being simultaneously worked on.
