Peacock poachers fined

MITHI, Aug 24: A team of the wildlife department, Tharparkar, conducted a raid on a village, Rane ji Dhani, and arrested six persons, and recovered four peacocks from there possession, which they had caught in violation of the game laws on Thursday.

The raiding team brought the poachers with peacocks to Mithi, where the Game Warden of Tharparkar imposed a fine of Rs11,000 on the poachers, Hukumdin, Pharna Bheel, Pirbhu Kolhi, Sarang Bheel, Atam Bhangi and Rano Bhangi on Friday.

The four peacocks were released in a jungle, near Mithi, in the presence of scores of villagers by the game staff.
