EC extends PPA to Fata

BAJAUR, Aug 24: The Election Commission of Pakistan has extended the Political Parties Act to the Federally-Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with immediate effect.

An Assistant Election Commissioner told Dawn on Saturday that the EC, through a notification, had extended the Political Parties Act to Fata with immediate effect.

He said now the candidates of the political parties would be able to contest the elections on the electoral symbols allotted to the parties.

NOMINATIONS: Around 50 candidates, including leaders of major political parties, filed nominations for the two National Assembly (NA-43 and NA-44) from Bajaur, on Saturday.

Those who filed nominations were MMA’s Maulana Moha-mmad Sadiq and Sahibzada Haroon Rashid while for the ANP, Shahabuddin Khan and Sheikh Janzada submitted their papers.
