KARACHI, Aug 23: The US consulate here, which was closed after a bomb attack on June 14, has opened at an undisclosed location, an American official said on Friday.

“I cannot disclose the new location because we are in process of shifting,” United States Consulate Public Affairs Officer Lonnie Kelley told Reuters. He said the consulate reopened on Friday, but people, initially, would only be able to reach it by telephone.

“It will not be a secret place...As soon as we settle there, we will give information about the place,” Kelley said.

The consulate was reopened after the attack, but closed again on Aug 5 due to security concerns after the city administration reopened the road on which it is located, to two-way traffic.

Kelley said the consulate had been moved because of security concerns.
