SWABI, Aug 21: The Awami National Party (ANP) has rejected the impression of forming any alliance with the National Awami Party Pakistan (NAPP) and the disqualified Swabi Qaumi Mohaz (SQM), stating that the leaders of both the political parties had betrayed the ANP.
“ NAPP President Ajmal Khattak had said goodbye to the ANP in a very crucial period. Now, he should have his own way. We are no longer interested in him and his political party,” said Azam Hoti while talking to newsmen after a meeting of the ANP parliamentary board.
The board interviewed a number of ANP ticket seekers from Swabi and Buner districts. Three other members—Mohammad Karim Babak, Bashir Matta and Main Iftikhar Hussain— of the parliamentary body assisted Azam Hoti in the interviews.
Mr Hoti said the doors of his party would remain open for political alliance with all other parties, but the ANP would never make a mistake of forming the alliance with the NAPP.
The ANP, he said, had also closed its doors on some leaders of the disqualified SQM as they had harmed the philosophy of Bacha Khan and castigated the leaders of the ANP from every platform. This ANP’s political stand dispelled the impression that the Walibagh leaders wanted to bring the SQM leaders into its fold.
Replying to a question, Mr Hoti said the party had authorized each district leadership to form alliances with different political parties.
