HYDERABAD, Aug 21: The managing director, Sindh Tourism Development Corporation (STDC), Mohammad Ishaq Lashari, has said that the STDC (Thatta) would construct 48 more huts at the Keenjhar Lake to provide recreational facilities to the tourists and other people who came there.
He said this while presiding over a meeting of the officials of the STDC at the local circuit house on Wednesday.
He said an amount of Rs18 million will be spent on these huts, which will also ease pressure on the existing facilities.
He said a shopping centre, four tuck shops, a people’s kitchen, and lavatories were also a part of this project.
Mr Lashari said that in order to promote tourism and attract foreign tourists other programmes were also on the anvil.
He said that it was for the first time that after clearing all liabilities, the STDC had saved Rs4 million during the year 2001-2002.
He expressed hope that with the construction of additional huts, the profit of the STDC would increase to Rs8 million per annum.
He said that on the successful completion of the project, the STDC would be in a position to construct more huts at Hawkes Bay and an aquarium at Clifton.
He said the STDC will spend Rs9 million from its own resources for these projects, while a matching grant will be provided by the Sindh Government.
