KARACHI, Aug 20: The district and sessions judge, West, Qaiser Iqbal, acquitted on Tuesday two workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in a murder-cum-robbery case.

Accused Muzaffar and Jahangir Ashraf were prosecuted for committing robbery in the house of complainant Zarina and killing her husband.

The judge exonerated them from all charges for want of incriminating evidence.

The additional district and sessions judge, Central, Ahmed Nawaz Shaikh, acquitted a man, prosecuted for kidnapping a boy for ransom.

The judge exonerated Shakil Ahmed from the charge of kidnapping Bilal, son of Habib, on April 23, 1997, in the Khawaja Ajmair Nagri area as the prosecution could not prove its case.

SENT TO JAIL: A man, who allegedly killed a baby born out of his incestuous relations with his daughter, was sent on Tuesday to the prison by an additional district and session court, West.

The man, a resident of Baldia Town, had been sexually abusing his 17-year-old daughter for the past two years. His wife and the victim daughter kept a mum out of fear as the alleged rapist had threatened them of dire consequences.

The teenaged victim gave birth to a baby girl on August 14. The rapist strangled the newborn to cover the disgusting act and buried the body in the courtyard of his house.

Following the burial, the rapist’s wife approached the police, who immediately arrested the accused.

Judge Naseem Shah remanded the accused to the judicial custody after the investigation officer informed the court that the accused was no more required for interrogation.

The judge ordered the police to submit final charge-sheet in the case within 15 days.
