KARACHI, Aug 20: The chairman, All Pakistan Motor Dealers Association (APMDA), H. M Shazad has said that when local assemblers failed to deliver cars in three months how could they roll out a car in two months.

He was giving his reaction to the commerce minister assurance to the consumers that locally assembled cars would now be delivered in two months instead of three months.

He said that when the commerce minister could not force the local assemblers to implement their promise of three-month delivery time, how would he ensure that the 60 days time is implemented.

In a statement, he said that locally assembled cars are still being sold at premium. “It is impossible to buy a locally-made car without the payment of premium,” he added.

He urged the commerce minister to lift the ban on used car import in order to provide cheap cars to the local consumers.
